Description
Convergys® POC RT-PCR Human Papillomavirus Detection Kit
for use with the Convergys® POC RT-PCR Nucleic Acid Detection System
The occurrence of cervical cancer is closely related to human papillomavirus (HPV) infections. The survey results of the World Health Organization show that HPV infection can be detected in 99.9% of cervical cancer patients. The International Association for research on cancer (IARC) announced in 1995 that HPV infections are the main cause of cervical cancer. Among the more than 30 types HPV that can infect humans, those which are associated with cervical cancer are referred to as high-risk HPV. The 14 high-risk types confirmed by WHO and IARC include HPV16, 18, 31, 33, 35, 39, 45, 51, 52, 56, 58, 59, 66 and 68, of which HPV16 and HPV 18 account for the majority of cases.
The Convergys® POC RT-PCR Human Papillomavirus Detection Kit can detect the conserved sequences of HPV16, 18, 31, 33, 35, 39, 45, 51, 52, 56, 58, 59, 66 and 68. In addition, the test detects HPV16 and HPV18 separately to allow a more detailed differential diagnosis.
