Convergys® APTT

Assay for the determination of the Activated Partial Thromboplastin Time (APTT) in plasma.

Convergys® APTT is used for the in vitro determination of the Activated Partial Thromboplastin Time (APTT). The APTT is a general screening test for the examination of the integrity of the intrinsic (and common) coagulation pathway. It is also used for heparin anticoagulation therapy monitoring. The Convergys® APTT reagent and CaCl2 are liquid and ready to use.
Convergys® APTT has a long reaction time and therefore a high resolution of results allowing for their accurate interpretation.

  • APTT is a general screening test for quantitative and qualitative deficiencies of factors of the intrinsic (and common) coagulation pathway (factors XII, XI, X, IX, VIII, V, II, I), prekallikrein and high molecular weight kininogen and is used for pre- and postoperative screening as well as heparin anticoagulation therapy monitoring. Convergys® APTT is sensitive to heparin and factor VIII, but insensitive to lupus anticoagulant (LA) which can cause a prolongation of the APTT.
  • In the Convergys® APTT assay a contact activator is used to activate the intrinsic (contact activation) pathway by stimulating the formation of the primary complex and activation of factor XII. This activation proceeds for a period of time, then calcium chloride is added to trigger further reactions in the cascade, leading to the formation of fibrin clot.
  • Convergys® APTT contains phospholipids and silicate and is a highly consistent and stable product. Convergys® APTT is designed to be insensitive to lupus anticoagulant and have a high sensitivity to heparin.
